 A serial model of the Mi-28N Night Hunter conducted its first flight at the Rostov Helicopter Plant (Rostvertol), the company's press service said Tuesday.
"In spring 2005, our plant signed a contract on the delivery of three [Mi-28N] helicopters to the Defense Ministry," a company source told RIA Novosti. "Their deployment is expected next spring after the completion of
all tests."
According to Rostvertol, the Mi-28N is a new-generation attack helicopter featuring high survivability and a wide range of advanced armaments.
The helicopter is primarily designed to locate and destroy enemy armored vehicles, personnel, small surface ships, low-speed air targets and fortifications and to lay mine fields day or night in adverse weather conditions.
High reliability and powerful weaponry ensure the helicopter's competitiveness on global aircraft markets.
