A special event today in Canada saw a meeting of one man Jet-Pack machines in action,the JetPack's are one man personal runabout machines that have miniature vectored jet nozzles that control these tiny strap on packs designed to lift any human into the air,with a twist of the nozzle you become airborne and can leap across rivers and inhospitable land.
Whilst these machines have been around for many years,this is the first time that they have been demonstrated at a public event,whilst the main market has got to be the military it will not be long before they are introduced to the civil market.
So instead of getting the limo out of the garage,you simply strap on your jet-pack and off to work you go with your sandwich box under your arm,with traffic as it is increasing at the moment how many people will be attracted to these airborne devices to get you over the highways and into the office car park,if a practical unit is made then it could happen ? how exciting is that ?

Which was the Olympic games in the United States that was opened by the arrival of a guy with a jet pack on his back?

A more sophisticated affair with two nozzles going down either side of the back pack but a pretty amazing entrance nevertheless.

I'm sure this was in the Seventies so all the more spectacular in those days.

And even before all of that, in Super Bowl I, two jet packs were used to represent the AFC and the NFC. I can't remember exactly what they were there to do, I think deliver footballs. But that was one of the first public showings of them. And who could ever forget the episode of Gilligan's Island where they found one.
