A Welcome return to the Skies !!

After many years of battle and hard work, The Vulcan Flies again !! The only one in the World too !!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/l...re/7049694.stm

There is a video link there too.

I used to see these quite regularly over here right up until the Falklands Conflict in 1982 and then never saw them again.

A real credit to all those who have worked hard to restore her and raise funds for her.

Regards.....Mark.

That is wonderful. Congratualtions to the people who built her, and i agree with the person that said it should be used for the opening of the olympics. I always loved the Vulcan and there is one situated at Southend Airport which my dad joined a club for and saw it is such a wonderful plane.

The most expensive restoration to fly yet, with zero houred engines she should be set to fly for quite some time, lets see this and the Red Arrows, plus the lovely Lancaster open the Olympics and show the world what British engineering was like before we became a nation of assemblers, lets be proud of these things instead of all this silly political correctness nonsense.

Does anyone know when the Vulcan will fly again at a public airshow? It was supposed to make it's maiden appearance (post restoration) at Duxford on the Airshow this weekend 18th-19th May but it's appearance there been cancelled.

Just a slight correction, the Vulcan was not due to appear at the Duxford May Airshow. However, there was originally planned a Friends of the Vulcan day at Duxford on 1st June 2008 but this was cancelled due to lack of funds. The first airshow of the season with the Vulcan officially listed as a possible flying participant is the R.A.F Waddington Airshow 5th-6th July. But this is all dependant on funds, weather and most importantly of all, aircraft serviceability. The only other listed flying appearances by the Vulcan this year will be R.A.F Fairford RIAT 2008 12th-13th July, and Jersey International Air Display 11th Sept 2008. However, Any Appearance By XH558 Is Subject To Serviceability, Weather And Other Considerations. Hope this helps.
