Thread: Good Plane Kits?

hi paul , dont be put off revell, a lot of their recent kits are superb ,even some of the long in the tooth ones arent bad and if a recent issue will always have excellent decals. There are a lot of great aircraft kit manufacturers but each one will have a few badly fitting skeletons in the closet (even tamiya- i got the sea harrier and found it was ancient and very basic ! ) the best thing to do is post up which aircraft youre wanting to do,and get peoples opinions,personal experiences of the available kits. Btw, which sukhoi are you wanting to make,and what scale? Finally dont forget , you can get a real buzz out of getting a good result from an older kit ,you can sometimes make a silk purse out of a sows ear! any more questions just fire away , cheers tony

In my limited experience I realy enjoy Academy kits. They offer some good detail and at much less than some of the "name" brands.Surface detail is good and the fit is also realy good.

They do make a 1/48 Su 37 (I think) and alot of the reviews I read online speaks highly of them.

Thanks lads. Interesting to know about Revell kits. Maybe i was confused with Airfix :) As for the Sukhoi i'm undecided whether to buy the Su.27 or .37. I just love the look of them and saw them at last summer's Moscow air display MACKS... very impressive. I like the 1/48 scale in general partly due to the lack of storage space i have at the moment. I'm trying to find a nice B-17 too.

Paul for a B-17 try to get the Academy one rather than Revell unless you are prepared to put a lot of work into it.

Cheers Steve. I hear that Academy is good so i'll go for that then especially based on your advice. I don't mind putting in a little work but i can be a little impatient and would end up losing it if parts wouldn't fit together so well.
