Thunder Tiger SSK Monster Truck brought out by hachette

Since it was advertised on tele before christmas last year i have got every issue on time and the parts are great i haven't started building it yet as i am waiting till i get all the parts to make a complete rolling chassis, also i have decide to take photos as i build it as i thought of doing a build progress for this site as i build it.

I also still need to get the oil for the shocks and bearings for the hubs as you just get the self lubricating bearings as standard which are ok for so long but wear so proper bearings will be used. Also a size 18 engine will be fitted than the 15 which you get for the truck and will go into my TS-4N car,and i will be be fitting a two speed that comes fitted in the newer version of the truck.

The photos will also be added to my fotopic site, also i hope to have another R/C project next year to do but we will see what happens.

I wish they didn't spread the parts over so many issue as it's like waiting for ever, but they did and also i should start building it at the begining of december as thats when i have all parts for a rolling chassis and the start of the engine parts that come with issues 49 to 63 which i will use in my TS-4N car as i want to fitted a bigger engine to the truck.

Im in sydney australia and have been doing the thunder tiger monster truck (up to part 8) and so far have found it to be quite enjoyable as i mainly tinker with rc helicopters (raptors and x cell) so have found this a good way to have a tinker with an rc car.
Obviously building from the weeklly mags is the expensive way of doing things but feel is a great way for complete rc novices to get involved. One of the pittfalls of a novice building a model is the tendancy is to slap parts together before thinking resluting in damaged or parts put together incorectly but when they only get a few parts each week they have no reason to get slap happy with parts to move onto the next stage due to having to wait for the next issue.
Secondly nothing can be more daunting for a novice to open a box and be confrounted with a box full of parts some that look the same but have minor differences that make part identification difficult this is also eliminated with the weekly mag due to only a few parts beings sent each week.
Also for a novice it can be daunting enough getting into a new hobby and the last thing they want to be doing is scouring hobbyshops ebay and the likes to find parts to build a model.

So to sum it up i would reccomend the mag way to a novice anyday as feel the extra cost is worth while to illiminate the above problems rather than paying less and ending up with a damaged or incomplete model due to confusion frustration and the likes

On a final note building week by week shows that the rc hobby in general is one that can take patience to complete setup and diagnose problems and helps build this level of patience not the " i dont want to wait i want it built and use it now attitude"

TREV

dynamite the 15 engine has less performance for an onroad car the 12 in the ts 4n is better than putting a 15 in something to do about the cubic something of this i dont really remember the exact things but the 15 has higher tourque or something thats why trucks come with 15 not 12 the 15 wont make your car go faster may even decrease the performance of your car

maybe you know the exact details of what im on about adzam

.15 or .12 relates to the american Cubic inch, so it`s .15 cubic inch motor,
so a .21 Ci is about 3.5cc why we use this i dont know .

you`ll probably find more torque in the .15 certainly bottom end pull away but may not rev as highly or produce as much power top end , but it does depend on the engine manufacturer and what the engine was designed for. the engines supplied in kits are really designed to be reliable and easy starting BEFORE performance really comes in to the equation.
which is why you`ll find more specialised engines like teh sirio .18 or some of the tuned os engines abit more fiddly to set up and run and also more succeptable to climatic changes .

The TS-4N super combo came with a 15 size engine whih was the version 1 car but i think the person who had it before me added the alloy bits and the engine thats in the car now has plenty of power when tuned, but because it needs a new crank it doesn't run great so thats why i am fitting the 15 engine i am getting with the truck into the car and fitting the new TT 18 engine in the truck.
I'm upto issue 44 now so i will be starting the building of it soon.

Heres a pic to show engine specs of a 12 and 15 size engine.
