New Car Track Proposed In North Wales

Excellent News If you are near to Colwyn Bay or visiting the area !!!

I have just heard today that the British Radio Car Association (BRCA) are to build a new track for R/C Cars in Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay.

This is Excellent news as it is just down the road from me and my Nephew,
      (-=Nemises=-) lives in Colwyn Bay.

They couldn't have chosen a better venue for this track as there is plenty of space in the park for just this. We already have a model boat pond there and the council have been keen to keep it there due to the interest and visitors it attracts to the park. I would imagine they will get even more visitors now with the car track.

We did have a Dinosaur world in the park near to the boat pond but that has long closed down and is just a vacant plot of land. I wonder if it is going to be put on there.

Nice to see the local councils being positive for once and encouraging the hobby and providing the facilities for it....either way it is welcome news !!

I will have to get me a car now too

      Regards......Mark.

Very interesting, I wonder how they intend to keep frequency regulation?

be interested to see how it goes.

Yes, the frequency side of things will be interesting, depending on how close it is sited to the boat pond. A lot of the boaters tend to use 40 Mhz these days anyway but there are the odd exceptions that still use 27 Mhz for boats (Myself included here).

Anyway, as and when I know more details I will keep you posted.

      Regards......Mark.

Just to keep you updated on this one,

There is indeed a proposal going through to get a car track built, I made initial enquiries with the BRCA after first hearing this story, they had heard about it but could not confirm anything.

Since then there has been a story in the local press to get this organised by a local lady whose son died in tragic shed fire at the local park where the track is to be set up. (Not his fault I might add, the offender was caught)

I used to work with the elder brother of the poor lad who died and he is very much into r/c stuff and organised an r/c meet on a local bank holiday occasion, he knew about the Skyline I built and it appeared at the meet but was not allowed to run because of the strict H&S regs in force then. Sadly I was working at the time otherwise it would have been cleared.

Needless to say the car still made the Spotlight just by being there, My nephew had it on film with all the kids recognising from the film.

Anyway back to the story, the Track is being proposed as part of a project known as Dan's Den (named after Daniel Cleverely and his poor girlfriend that died in the fire) they are looking for volunteers and helpers to run it, needless to say I will be getting involved.

I will keep you posted with the developments.

      Regards.....Mark.

Not only a great amenity but also obviously a worthy cause.

      Hi BlueWaveStudios!
I have moved recently to Colwyn Bay, and just got back into RC after a long break. I have got an old 2WD electric kyosho buggy, and am planning on getting a 4WD nitro, like the kyosho inferno.
I was wondering if there are any race tracks or clubs in the area? I found this old post from you regarding Eirias Park but clearly nothing ever happened there.
I have also got a couple of 3D Electric Helis, though I am still learning.
Hope to hear from you sometime.

This sounds like a good idea to me, I live in bangor and have been looking for somewhere to race. I used to race 1/10 saloons down south before i moved. Does anyone know of any other tracks close?
