ideally if you could get the paint code of your dads car , it would make it more special. and as everyone else has commented imho i would do the model inits pristene condition as your dad looked after his, mounted on a nice wooden base . would look something special

Do i polish the interior of my dads car on the model i am making. Would it make a difference? Please help!!

if you use tamiya's XF-18 "semi-gloss black) it will gives a nice finish for the vinyl in a car and you wont need to polish it. i doubt your dat polished the inside of his car as a shiny dash creats an annoying reflection the inside of the windscreen

He did polish the inside of his car. He made me clean the leather seats and polish them. He also got me to use special interior wipes to make his car clean in the inside. He loved it that much he wanted to be proud of it when he was in it.

A semi-gloss finish as Richard says will look scale polished. Full gloss would look unrealistic on upholstery and dash but semi-gloss will look the part.

You can even mix gloss and matt paints to achieve the exact level of semi-gloss you are after. I would paint a sample patch and wait until it is dry before deciding.

well guys ive staed the model. It has been going together very well. no filling has been needed yet. I have used His paints and also got a wonderful effect on the dashboard. Will post pictures up of it very soon.

Great idea Char. I've got a 200sx "in production" minus the cracked windscreen!!! It's the one a bit older your Dad's one. It's a good Tamiya kit so hopefully they do one of the newer car! Good luck and please keep us posted.

Well I've got the Kit which is my dads exact car model the S14a turbo. It is a tamaya kit i remeber my dad bought it from japan i think on ebay. So far it is going great im just glueing the engine together then i will take photos of it.
