Hello!

Afternoon everyone,

Though I'd say hi as I'll probably be on here a bit now I've actually found a forum for this sort of thing.

I'm mainly into my 1/24th scale cars and 1/12th bikes, mainly build Tamiya kits as I find they're fairly cheap and can be very detailed depending on how much work you put in.

Looking for tips and advice to take me a step up from the average modeller, to someone that can produce some fine examples, although at this stage I'm fairly inexperienced compared to alot of you guys, I still do everything with brushes and aerosols where necessary!

Anyway, I'll spare you my life story, expect many stupid questions.

Take it easy

Hi, notice you're in Llandudno, I'm in the Chester area, so not too far away. I used to be heavily into RC Cars, recently built up a HPi Nitro drift kit and did a 350Z Sumo Power replica drift body, in pink, looks really nice even if I do say so mysef. Used to race RC religiously at Wrexham, but getting too old to be out in the cold now (26yrs young!) and getting back into static models. I have a serious love for anything with wheels and an engine, so cars and bikes are my favourites.
Building a Tamiya Skyline at the moment, coming along fairly nicely. Trying to achieve a decent matt finish for the seats to make them look like cloth.

Hi Gaz. I've had a few tries with different seats/dashboards etc, try mixing matt and satin (semi-gloss) varnishes together in different proportions to see if that helps. I managed a pretty decent leather finish a while back but I cant remember how much of each I used and it altered the colour of the base paint a tad... may be worth a shot though!
