| | All Round Modeller | HMS Active Thought I would add this one to the Battleships Gallery, this is my 1/72 ish HMS Active on test 10 years ago, I only found this pic in the loft tonight as I am sorting stuff out ready for a pending house move in 2 months time.
She was uncompleted then with still a lot of detail to be added but still looks the part on the water....540 motor on a 6 volt motorcycle type battery, lasts for 7 hours !!! especially at her normal sailing speeds, yes she is listing a bit due to the breeze that day but handles it well due to the battery laying flat in the hull.
Pond is the Colwyn Bay Model Boat Club pond at Eirias Park.
2nd pic is the same model at the V.E. Day sailing in 1995 just a couple of weeks before the first pic was taken so slightly less complete on this one.
3rd pic might be of interest to Scottie, recognise the boat behind mine..??
A161....Loyal Mediator
The red coke speedboat is also mine...built from April 1980 issue of ModelMaker Magazine and was called Scamp...plans still in Nexus range now..this one was built in April 1980 when I also first bought my own R/C Set....Futaba 2M series 2 Channels...and yes it is very much well and truly alive today.
Ps ...I still have this Ship...just needs a few very slight minor touch ups and repairs but she has been around since 1985 when first built and then refurbished in 1995.
Regards.....Mark.

| | All Round Modeller | Thanks Adzam,
Will be working on that very shortly, got a quick house move to do first and then will get her sorted...only minor dinks to sort out and then put the Lynx back on the Flight deck where it belongs !!!
I have had many hours fun sailing with this ship and wish to continue that for as long as possible.
Regards......Mark |

| here you go grub, the necessary link to the source of old Nexus & X-List plans. It may be worthwhile posting a request by e-mail to them as I've had a quick look and didn't come up with the "Scamp" plan http://www.xlistplans.demon.co.uk/
cheers

| | All Round Modeller | Hi Grub,
Sorry about the delay in replying, my computer is packed away at present due to being in the middle of a house move, I am using my sisters at the mo.
The direct Link for the Scamp Plans (and many of the other old ones) is here http://www.modelboats.co.uk/ when you see the page, in the box on the right marked modelshop type plans in the search box and in the next window that comes up there is another search box, type scamp in there and up she comes with current price.
If you want to browse all the other boat plans, just click on the word plans above the search box and it will come up with the various categories of boats, just click on the one you want and browse at leisure.
Regards.........Mark |
