Doors and Windows ("Strath Class" Queries..)

Hello, all --!

I'm building a 61" long model of a "Strath Class" armed trawler in 1/24 scale. I have good drawings and quite a number pf photos.....But these unfortunately do not show (clearly) the location of any doors, or even what kind of doors these are...(Or the location of portholes, and what size they'd be.)

Also, does anybody have a simple drawing of a 12-pounder gun? Since this model is going (eventually) into a Naval Museum I'd like to build it as "accurately" as I can. Just for the record I'm not being paid to do this model -- I'm just an ex-RCN type who's doing this on his own hook.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

(I was planning on doing this model as the Strathcoe -- But the only picture I can find is of her "sinking" as her crew is rescued by the Longhope Lifeboat. Wouldn't you know it......)

If anyone can help, post here or email me at annatrope@aol.com

Thanks!

Paul.

If the 12 pounder gun is the same as the gun fitted to the Envoy class of admiralty tug you may be able to use one of those as a reference.

If you can determine that it is I can send you some pictures of the Model Slipway model and it may be worth asking Model Slipway where they obtained drawings for the model.

Thank you...! The 12-pdr on the Envoy Class Tugs would be the same 12-pdr used on trawlers. Usually the only difference is the mount. They came up with a "new" mount in WWII that would make the 12-pdr a "High Angle/Low Angle gun so it could be used against aircraft.

Salvage Tugs like the Envoy Class Tugs were prime targets for the German pilots as every salvage tug sunk meant at least one more damaged merchantman left unattended.

There was even a movie about these gallant vessels and their crews called "The Key", starring William Holden and Trevor Howard. (May still be available if you're really lucky -- a bit of a melodrama but it makes the point very well.)

The pictures (especially ones showing the relative length of the gun) would be extremely helpful !!!

I'll take some detailed pictures of the gun when I get home in just over a weeks time.
