Worry not old chap, We are all non conformists and somewhat weird... after all, we build models and tend to favour real ale and music played by musicians as opposed to computers.

mmm I am a non conformist and build models too but I also do music on computers...the Computers don't make the music, the artist does, the computer is used to record it and edit it..Computers are basically replacing recording studios these days....everything that can be done in those big empty acoustic rooms can now be done on a PC (or a Mac).

If only we had the software to churn out some nice models !!

Computers Bah ! I`m a Luddite when it comes to them. Albion, eccentric , welcome to the club ! If there were no so called eccentrics we wouldnt have a million things that made the modern world. You carry on with your dream, I hope you dumbfound the naysayers. Opening gambit for CGs etc ? Don't know but you will have a font of one-liners within a month of getting her afloat. At a naval show I told the Russian naval attache whose entourage stopped to look at my model that the Royal Navy had developed miniaturisation to degree but that work on genetically reduced 1/24th scale crew members had to cease. This was greeted with a loud guffaw and a bear`s slap on my shoulders,he was a big guy. All translated by a sloe-eyed tall vision in Parisian haute couture who didnt laugh, stuck-up b...... ! Another time , at sea, I was to lead a flotilla of Irish sailing boats into Inveraray harbour and went out to meet them. When they hove into view they hesitated and went line abreast and I waited, head down out of the breeze. After a while I thought that would make a good photograph and stood up to take the shot. Suddenly the sailing boats all started charging in my direction so I got underway and led them into port as planned. The skipper of the fleet got me on the harbour wall and told me that he had almost turned the fleet back because he knew that a 20,000 ton carrier couldnt be there and the GPS must be wrong. Only when "this bloody great giant of a man stood up" did he realise what he was looking at only half a mile away and not the real one at distance. Mind you they had had a party the night before.

That's a good story but surely wouldn't seeing a giant person emerging from a 20,000 ton Aircraft Carrier cause considerably more alarm than having a problem with the GPS?

Anyhow regarding Spook 57's comments -

...worrying about stability.... with a thought to safety in mind as well...will be extreamly top heavy and prone to rolling...15-20 degree roll en pitch might be a bit scary...

Are we talking about the carrier or Spook 57 Steaming at 3 knots after a few pints of his favourite tipple?

What's this Real Music played by Real Musicians that Bluewavestudios listens too whilst drinking his real ale?

Imagines some bearded folksy types drinking real ale, playing fiddles and squeezeboxes...

...

When the working day is done I favour Bombay saph (after a few pints of amber nectar). With regards drunken typo's... guilty as charged ya honours :P

Ps... When a Computer can play a Flute whilst cavorting in tights and wacked out of its circuit board and still sound like Ian Anderson I will call it music, Until then its just notes played by a machine.

Sorry bluewave

PPS. John paul Jones? ohhhhhh , you refer to the pissed pirate from the highlands with delusions of admiralty who went state side to avoid paying his child support to Flossy from Fife (baaaaaaaaa)?
I much prefer The other one...Led Zep Forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PPPS... I much prefer The two Cochranes as Scotlands sea going hero's, Senior was the chap who dropped his cigar while away on his vacation and kinda burned Dc to the ground and then there is Junior... the only man to win 3 major naval Victories, get elected mp and break out of Prison in a single year, Who said the scots cant multi task

With you all the way shipmate `cept JPJ was a lowlander, Wigtownshire somewhere. Oh yeah and the five Scottish captains that helped Nelson win at Trafalgar after that terrible "ENGLAND expects" signal, oh yes it was Scot that brought his corpse home. Meanwhile back at the extra large model carrier.............?

Being off topic is fine, you usually have to let things run free in order to get the really good ideas.
