First post - and a paint question

Hello all - as seems traditional I've "returned" to model making after adulthood got in the way(!) and have been impressed with the advice given on here.

I have a quick Q which is that I am wondering what to do about a situation where my kit "needs" TS-16 and TS-26 Tamiya spray paints (it's a Williams FW11 - I'm a F1 fan!!). I get the impression that the Tamiya paints have been outlawed by the EU, so what do people suggest? I'm not ready to splash out on an airbrush just yet to be honest so any spray can alternatives would be much appreciated!!

      TIA guys :-)

Tamiya spray paints aren't outlawed as such. They just don't have the correct chemical/safety markings on them that we need to have. They should be getting sorted out soon though (apparently).

Plus i've never had any bother getting Tamiya paints through evilbay

Hehe, I must be looking in the wrong place on t'bay - can't seem to find anyone who sells them - [edit: or rather, sells them "cheaply"] - I will go back and try again. Cheers for reply!

hi munkster welcome to the forum. Just about any acrylic aerosol will do (has to be acrylic or theres the danger of melting the plastic if its one of the more aggressive solvent types)I have had great results using halfords acrylic sprays -appliance white is great and their primer is indispensable. Ive also had excellent finishes using hycote acrylic car paints too,and the yellow youre looking for (ts 26) should be easily matched. Heres a few pics to show the finish -the concorde is appliance white, the other two are hycote sprays , hope this helps cheers tony

Ah, great thanks Tony. I've already had a "tip off" about the Halfords primer so that seems like a definite purchase! I'll keep an eye out for the other acrylic sprays too, cheers!
