      Hello from Iowa

Hi there everyone, nice forum you guys have going on here! I was an avid modeler in my teens and early 20's but haven't done anything in far to many years. I came across a copy of Fine Scale Modeler a few months ago and started reading that magazine again. Then while moving I came across my old modeling tools, air brush etc and that sparked my interest to start modeling again.

Anyway I'm sure I will pick up many tips and enjoy looking at others work here. When winter hits and I have more indoor time I'm going to get a project going!

Hi there welcome to our cousin from across the pond, there are a lot of us here in the same situation who have just started taking modelling up after long absences. What kind of kits did you build? we are all a very friendly bunch here and if you ever find yourself in a position of needing help just ask, there is always someone here who will be able to assist, iam one of the armour builders although i venture into planes every now and again. So i hope you make loads of friends and stay awhile have fun.

Thanks guys, When I was building I did mostly WWII aircraft and some cars. I did a couple of basic diorams after reading "How to build dioramas" by Shep Smith if I remember corectly. I think that when the snow flies around here I'm going to get a late model truck and sratch build some pipe racks, tool boxes and letter it up to model one of my father's plumbing service trucks. Might make a nice Christmas present for him.

Welcome Iowa from the Scottish Highlands.
I occassionally pick up a copy of fine scale modeller or aeromodeller, (one of the shops local to work oddly stocks it now and again, we're a very tiny highland village if you're wondering why that's odd), which is great for me and gives me something new to read, great articles though I wish they'd go into more detail on the builds sometimes, the really annoying thing is looking at all the really neat modelling tools and toys you guys over the pond can buy but of course they're all in Dollars and after shipping and import duties to the UK..........)

Look forward to seeing some of your work

      Hi there.
Like you, I'm a newbie here.
I used to make model planes when I was younger but have only done Games Workshop miniatures in the last 2 years or so.

I've been reading some of the forum posts in here (specifically the diorama ones and there are some people that seem only too happy to give advice - to avoid embarrassment I will not name names).

      Welcome o the forum Iowa.
Well the only thing I can think of to add is that there is only 1 real rule here

Dont be scared to ask. We all appreciate that we were all absolute beginners once. One other thing hat is starting to become a clique is "There is no such thing as a stupid question" and tha is realy really true.

In my experience everyone is great. Most people have their small area of knowledge (Even me at times) and there are a few regular posters. The mods have been well chosen as they are very very helpful and do not object to a personal message if you feel you need to.

You will find this a valuable resource and you will enjoy yourself here.

Hi Badbatch and welcome back to modelling. A lot of us drift away as family committments take ocver than come back to it a bit later when we have a bit more time to ourselves. It's good to have someone to talk to about all the changes in techniques and materials that have happened since we have been away as it all looks a bit overfacing to start with.

Anyway you're in the best place, feel free to ask whatever you like and never forget that the people you are asking have all been in exactly the same situation you are in now so we all understand.
