Hi everyone, i thought i'd best introduce myself first before going anywhere else,
My name is Paul james and i'm forty three years old and as you've already worked out i have an interest in airguns, it started when i was thirteen and five years later in 1986 i took up an outdoor competition sport called "Field target" and it has been my obsession ever since. I have been lucky in that not only is it my passion but i have had some success in it too which peaked in 2008 when i won the spring gun class at the world championships in Northern ireland, the following year i was fortunate enough to be able to go and compete in South africa where i finished second and last year i won again in Hungary. Now you're most probably thinking "What has this to do with scale models?" They were an interest i had ever since i was old enought to build them, not with much success and i never painted them, money at that time was tight and any spare cash that would have bought paints and such went to the next kit...as i grew older interest faded. Then earlier this year i was diagnosed with bowel cancer and my rapidly failing health and subsequent radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment meant that i have not been able to continue to compete with my airguns, planned trips to Italy for the world's and other major competitons here have had to be cancelled. I'm not the type who can sit still for long and during the high's and low's of being a cancer patient i soon became bored, hence the revived interest in making model kits.
I bought a couple of Airfix WW11 Airfield sets, off the internet and found a modelshop where i bought paints and all the necessary bits and bobs to not only complete the kits but to hopefully make a better job of them than i had when i was younger, and that is what has brought me here. So, i'll be searching out some newcomers information and tips and asking questions too no doubt in the hope that i'll be able to build on my ability.
I had an operation to remove the tumour last week and while i'm resting up the kits will be seeing the light of day more...

Thankyou everyone, i had a visit from some friends yesterday and one of them brought me another kit to keep me going, an Airfix 1:76 Battlefront with Sherman and Tiger tank and Diorama set, i'll post some pics with my posts to let you know how i get on with them.
