Hello all

Hello,
I've been into modelling for a long time..i would never say i was an amazing modeller..i always think i could have done better after every build..i guess i might not be alone in that feeling right? I mainly build in 1/72 scale as i find it just right for space reasons and detail..i have around 200 models to build..everything from railway guns to air to ground rockets..i mainly stick to German World War Two military..after years of research i found it all utterly fascinating especially when i got hold of various books on german secret weapons etc..i know of the Nazi excesses and genocide and i have no interest in the idea of the master race or any other rubbish for that matter..you have to see alll sides of the lunacy to understand why it was a waste of time and a complete shambles from start to finish..that included all the great technological advances and military genius..i started my modelling wargaming years ago with a mate of mine..he was the germans and i was the allies..he'd produce all these weird and exotic sounding planes and tanks in our battles..it led me to look a lot deeper into the history of the more secret side of Nazi research..in those days there wasn't that much around on the subject..models were thin on the ground and books were nowhere to be found..the local library had one book called "The Wings of the Luftwaffe" which i read and learnt of such things as crescent shaped wing aircraft with no tails and jet bombers..i amassed a cupboard full to bulging on German world war two history..later on Midland Publishing started selling a whole mass of Luft'46 stuff and i discovered Hannants in Lowestoft who import hundreds of resin/photo etch metal kits...through them it took off from getting a model of the Huma Drache..of course the use of the internet opened doors wide for me..the un-built models in boxes just piled up and up..they still are! I'm forever searching for more and more exotic crazy german experiments in model form..i built a Natter launch tower by getting the 1/48th plans scaled to 1/72 in the model shop..i followed the exact plans by putting the plastic strips i cut on it..cutting and glueing them together in sections till the whole launch tower was complete..i used an old Heller Natter to sit on it..i would like to build a model of the Peenemunde rocket base one day as a diorama..a BIG project and i need a LOT of detailed plans and pictures..the test stands alone are complicated enough by the look of them..i model in the usual makes..Revell..Dragon..Trumpeter..Special Hobby..etc..i also build in resin..white metal and photo etch brass when need be...i built the Freya and Wurzburg radars by Extratech..Freya is a nightmare to build and keep safe from damage when it's built! I re-built the undercarriages on the Revell He177's with the CMK sets..they look really good..carving the undercarriage sections of the wings out is made easy by the outline in the plastic..they do look nice though with all 4 doors open..even if it was rarely if ever they ever had all 4 doors open on the ground...i'm just fiddling with the Porsche King Tiger with anti magnetic paste by Dragon..i'm going to do it in the green with yellow and brown stripes...should look great..France 1944...I have a mass of pics of my models in the computer so when the time comes i will post them..i kept a record of how i put them together in photos...

Thank you for letting me join your community.
