Hi Saul here saying Hello all!

New member Saul Sheldon here. Likes modelling 1/72 aircraft in between swigs of Bombardier or Leffe beer. Used to do it til about age of 16 now started up again call it a mid life crisis but i call it a getting married and having kids crisis (go the whole hog!)
Specific Question: Is there a book which details RAF colours and has their Humbrol/Revell paint numbers in it? E.g what humbrol colour is "Light Slate Grey" as applied to Canberras. Also what is PRU Blue?
Life is full of mystery!
Thanks all, Saul

Hi Saul and a warm welcome to the forum. It seems a bit strange that a lot of us have a bit of a gap and then come back to modelling again in later years. I was amazed at how much things had changed in the meantime!

Anyway I don't know of specific books on the subject but there are lots of cross reference charts on the web for specific colours and thier counterparts from different manufacturers. Have a Google and see what you come up with. I'm also sure that references have been posted on here in the past so have a play with the search facility here as well.

Have a look at the Airfix website as well as they have colour charts on there.

My guess for PRU blue would be Prussian Blue, as found on Napoleonic figures etc.

Hi Bunkerbarge
Yes it has changed a bit, mainly in the price if kits!. I remember buying an Airfix He111 at my local WHSmith for £1. 95 dont know the year but certainly I was not old enough for most things!
So you thing PRU blue is Prussian blue? Never thought of that. Would the RAF have painted that on a Canberra in the 50's?
Thanks for the tips!
Saul
