Hey there

Hi - this is my first post, and it will be my first model - well, since I was a kid anyway.

I've always wanted a VW split screen camper, but with financial and space constraints - it's likely to be at least a couple of decades before I get the real thing.

So, I was kindly given a Hasegawa kit for my birthday recently - the Type 2 21 window kind.

The thing is, I would like to build it "custom" - much like how I'd like a real one. Something like the Fuchs wheels, a modernised and custom interior - that kind of thing.

I've had a look on line, but am struggling to find a source of parts or accessories to help.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be most grateful.

Looking forward to chatting and picking up tips.

Wayne

Hi Wayne and a warm welcome to the forum. It always interests me that people are drawn into modelling for the purposes of completing a specific project that has some significance in thier life.

I'm afraid I can't help specifically with your project but my advice would be that you are going to have to make a lot of the bits from scratch and the best guidance to help you with that would be to collect together as much in the way of pictures that you can. The internet will be invaluable for this but also look at old books published at the time. This is where eBay really comes into it's own as well as having a root thorough your locl second hand book shops.

Good luck and keep us up to date with how it's going.

Most importantly enjoy your time with us.

Make bits from scratch? Cripes - I'm getting the notion that this is going to take some time to complete!

Thanks for the advice.
