my name is george and I live in the detroit area about ten houses from Lake Saint Clair, in Michigan. I spent 4 years in the U.S. Navy. I started building a 72 scale model of the ship that I was station on from scratch since no model was available . I started drawing plans from old photos and memory about six years ago and have the hull about two thirds done. most of the equipment will be hand made. the ship is a LSD ( landing ship dock ) that was 580 ft long and 80 ft wide .. The model will be 7.5 ft long when finished.. wish me luck
Hi George
Welcome to the forum - It sounds like a big project, are you planning a launching on Lake Saint Clair, post some photo's - I'd be interested to see your results as you progress, best of luck
