Just as cold here in Nelspruit!
What u building at the moment? I am looking at starting an Italeri 1/48 MK 1 Impala in silver SAAF collour.

Only hassle is that the kit tiptanks are to small and the castles are wrong collour, aswell as spelling mistakes in the stensling:-(

      Hi Rodney

I got the kit from a mate of mine. The tip fueltanks are not of the correct size, they are a little to small. There are aftermarket resin tanks ,but at R120-00 it is to expensive for me.

My skill level is not good enough to warrent such a big expence.

I will however get better SAAF castle decals.

I know the hobyshops should be able to order (if they want to that is). Ask them to get you the Italeri 1/48 kit no 2626.
That should keep you going for a bit!For acurate SAAF decals google "mav decals" he makes realy good stuff and can mail it to you.

If you want to build a SAAF C-47 Dak, and don't want to do the standard cammo, I have a nice pic of one that was white ontop. orrange and black chevrons on the bottom. Was used as a target tug, very nice!

Rodney, send me your e-mail adress and cell no .
On the e-mail i can send a much bigger file of the dak, we are limited to 190kb on this site and it might loose reselotion.

I will try post a pic on here anyway as it is rather a nice different collour for a dak.

I was given the kit by a mate of mine. I know that you can order the kit from a good modelshop if you ask for Italeri kit #2626.

The SAAF castle decals are rather inacurate with the "bokkie" being to fat and yellow instead of gold, so just chuck them and get decals from Mav decals.

I have just not had the time to start on the Imp as my work is starting to eat into my model building time, go figure!

Got a whole stack of pix of the Imp in SAAF meseum and hope to start soon.

If you don't come right with your local shop try contact "the aviation shop" in Jhb somewhere. They should be able to get it for you, aswell as the decals.

      Hope it helps
