      Lapsed modeller returns

      Hello,

I used to do a lot of modelling in the 1960's, when life was simpler. Now that I have retired from Engineering after 47 Years, I have re-started modelling. I have done a few 1/72 models to get some practice, but my main interest now is the Russian fast jets. Have just finished the Trumpeter 1/32 MIG-29M, and am starting the Trumpeter 1/32 Sukhoi SU-27 Flanker B. I am hoping Santa will bring me the new Trumpeter 1/32 Sukhoi SU-30MKK.

Because of the soft edge camouflage on modern jets, I have invested in an Airbrush, which I ran off Propellant Cans, but have just invested in a Compressor this week.

Have picked up a lot of good tips from your Forum over the last few Months.

      Kind Regards

      Tony,

Many thanks for the reply, and offer of help. Attached is my first attempt at a 1/32 scale, this is the Trumpeter MIG 29M model. Trumpeter drives you mad trying to match colours, have always ended up mixing my own.

      King Regards

      Thumbs up

looks brilliant! must be quite a size too.I know what you mean about trumpeter being a bit frustrating,im halfway through their 1/32 mig 17.This was one of their earliest 1/32 kits and is inaccurate/simplified in just about every way,im just about to start spraying after much altering and extra detailing, hoping to finish it in egyptian camo.pics coming soon.Meanwhile heres a few websites you may find useful. RUSSIAN AVIATION RESEARCH (russian aviation research site) WINGS PALETTE - News (wings palette site, thousands of colour profiles not just of soviet but everything ,ww1 to modern day) vvs.hobbyvista.com (russian aviation forum website, mainly older stuff but up to 1950,so some jets. cheers tony

      Tony,

Many thanks for the Links, I have added them to my favourites. The site I have found useful is Airliners.net | Airplanes - Aviation - Aircraft- Aircraft Photos & News I have had a quick look and I attach 2 photo's from their web site of the Egyptian MIG 17, there may be more. You are right the MIG 29 is big, 360mm Wing Span x 560mm o/all length approx. The SU-27 is even bigger, and a lot more detailed.

      Kind Regards
      Derek
