      A couple of Tamiya originals

      Hi,
Not really a newbie, been popping into the forum for a while now, but don't post all that often.
Came across these two while visiting my Mum at Christmas. Definitely not up to present day standards, but post here more as an historical interest.
They where built by myself back around 1970, during my morning and afternoon smoko breaks, while the rest of the office played darts. This a couple of years after leaving school.
They are both Tamiya 1/35th kits, painted with Tamiya paints. Straight from the box, painted by brush.
Have been sitting in my Mums lounge, inside little glass cases which I built at the time.
      cheers

He has indeed. The two fellas on the combo looked just as miserable back then as they do today!

They are great Vnkiwi, just think, over 30 years between our builds of the BMW. What a great testament to the Tamiya kit. At least you did the white hub correctly. I pondered it for so long, I forgot to paint it white. Are you back into modelling now? Would love to see more of your work if you are.

I can see why your mum would want to keep those! Good stuff, but you haven't answered Graham's question. Will we be seeing more of your work? I hope so.

      Hi Guys,
Thanks for the comments, and its now 40 years since I built those two. Graham, it was your build which prompted me to dig these two out. I have a WW2 jeep (also by Tamiya) which I built for my Dad (now passed away) because he used them in the Pacific islands during 1944/45. Will take some photos as I have it in for repair.
Haven't really built much in the way of plastic kits for the last 20-25 years due to family and a globetrotting job, but have now come full circle (started with Veron rubber aircraft at age 8, then boats, plastic kitset cars, r/c cars, r/c aircraft-indoor and out) and am modelling boats again. Mostly balsa, and mostly of my own own design of historical NZ riverboats and sailing scows. Think I posted my usa footy-scow 'Alma' late last year. Have a footy swordsman, nz footy-scow 'Alma' and a 24" square rigged free-sail boat on the build bench at the moment. (build bench is an old upright computer desk, in the corner of the lounge, so a little crowded).
Do my own research and drawings, so not enough hours in a day
      cheers
