The Mutual Model Boat Society is a warm, friendly and helpful group of enthusiasts. Our aims are: - To promote all aspects of model boating and to encourage people to take up the hobby, especially the younger generation. Our members' models cover a wide range of styles from steam driven warships and launches to airscrew-driven 'fun' craft.

The Mutual Model Boat Society is devoted to promoting the designing, building, racing, and preservation of all model Boats of all sizes and shapes. We pursue these goals by recognizing all models-full spec, or by design-, and Promoting model boating in general. Any operating model boat enthusiast will benefit by joining the Mutual Model Boat Society and meeting others with the same interests.

Sailing times

We meet every Sunday morning from 9:00 am, 52 weeks a year, to sail, chat, share ideas and information and have a 'brew' and a 'natter'. The mill is a business centre so sailing is not available at any other time. Visitors are welcome every Sunday.

The pond

Our water is a mill lodge situated in the grounds of Mutual Mills. The surroundings tend to leave sailing vessels in the 'Doldrums' but it does mean we have relatively calm water for everyone else. Unfortunately IC powered craft are not permitted.

Location and Facilities

Mutual Mills, Aspinall Street, Heywood, Lancashire is just a five minute drive from the M66. From Heywood town centre, head towards Rochdale on Rochdale Road East, Aspinall Street is on the left just past the garage - look for the sign for Crimble Croft Community Centre. Tea, toast and toilets are available in Crimble Croft from approx 11:00 am. Parking is available within the grounds and, if you're early enough, right up to the water's edge.

I certainly agree with your comment about Welcome to a Hobby sport that you can enjoy for a lifetime with Family and friends all over the world.

That is pretty much how we operate on here too so I hope we can be of as much use to you as you can us and of course share your pics on here too.
We have plenty of Model Boaters here (Myself included) so you will feel more than welcome here.

I checked out the website link too, quite an impressive turnout for the Blackpool Meet there !!!

Hi Dropbear and a very warm welcome to the forum. Thanks for the info on your club who seem to share my own views entirely on the idea of a model boat club, especially as regards intorducing the younger generation to the hobby.

Unfortunately my own club also meet on a Sunday morning otherwise I would have enjoyed a trip over to see you guys but I will be keeping an eye on your site and I look forward to meeting up with you at shows and exhibitions. Maybe we can catch up at our own club gala days and the like.

Most of all though, enjoy your time here.
