if it's the same, basically. as Google Earth, then small towns and villages just tend to be "blobs"

It is the same as Google earth and like that it's not complete, the first time I ever looked at Google earth my street wasn't on it but it is now, I guess mapping the earth is quite a big job :)

    Where is Sweden?

Just added my marker to the Google map. If you zoom in on the map it doesnt go far but if you zoom in on the coordinates in the satalitte picture you can see the island I live on, off the coast of Gothenburg.

Gothenburg was my first ever foreign port on my first ever trip to sea in 1977.

We actually had a few days there and we got to play a local team at football. Got thrashed but had a good time. In those days there were about 42 of us on the ship so not too many to pick a good team from.

On there, looks to be about as far from an ocean as you can get, there is an inland waterway port about 60 miles south of me, mostly prairie to west, ozarks to the east, flint hills north, red hills of oklahoma south. Excellent view of wheat fields! and cows, cow patty bingo anyone?

Richard you must have sailed by the island I am living on, but I was'nt living there in 1977. From my veranda I can see many of the large ships sailing in and out of Gothenburg, but only partialy coz there's another island in the way. I can usually see the bridges of freighters; the type with a bridge on the 12th floor. The island that is in the way is called värgö which means "Wolf Island". The story goes many hundrds of years ago, that the water between the mainland and the Gothenburg's Southern Archipegilo froze. A wolf took a walk over the ice and when the ice melted he found himself living there! Wolfs were not and are not found in the archipegilo so he could'nt find a mate and his race died out with him. The island I live on is called Styrsö which means "Steering Island" which is just what it was - the boss island of the archipegilo. More interesting is the name of my village/harbour which is called Tången and it means "Seaweed". I don't know if the funny swedish letters show up on your'e screen, Swedish has 29 letters in it's alphabet and the three extra letters are relly hard to pronounce.
