Shoutbox
You may have noticed that the shoutbox has vanished this is because the forum seems to be running slow due to too many mysql database connection so I have disabled it as it queries the database every 3 seconds ans could cause a slow down, I will monitor the server loads if they don't get any better I will put it back on and remove something else, it's just a case of trial and error, I don't want to have to upgrade the server as it's only been a couple of months since the last upgrade

not that Red..thats the chit-chat section of the forum

John.... i heard there used to be a chat room on here but you removed it because it was not used

the shout box will be greatly missed i think. it makes a real difference from normal forums (you can say hi to the people on line and a little chat withouht having to waste posting it.)

i hope you can bring it back, it brought a real sence of community to this place.

I agree with richard, the chat box was great! Maybe you could run it every minute or so as its oftern over that between messages..

Failing that, a java based chat room wouldnt cain resources and can easily be installed server side?

Like I said I've only disabled it not removed it, but so far there seems to be little difference in performance, so it will probably be back soon, then I will remove something else to see if anything changes, the server is only like any other computer the more stuff you have running the slower it get's
