Airfix figures were polythene I'm afraid. You need a very flexible paint and a good wash as Barry said, or it will peel of eventually. If I had my Airfix book here I would give you an idea but it's at home unfortunately.

thats what my dad had, hundreds of them! quite a few artillarys/panzas/tigers/shermans/chirchhills as well!

also lots of american civil war stuff that has just popped out of my memory, american atillary (cannon) troops that towed little cannons, everything!

your right, ebay does seem to be going downhill. ever since christmas if you ask me! and as far as models are concerned that are too many japanese seelers, where you pau £5 for the model, £10 for postage and have to wait a month for it to arive!!! (although you do save about £5 most of the time!)

i dont know if this helps, i think one of them is the model No.

... on the box it says..

S22

and
89 (it underlined on the box)

what do these mean?

it also says on the back...

CODE No. 01722-6

(MADE IN ENGLAND)

ok, found them on here....

http://www.airfixcollector.co.uk/H0F...mpleteList.htm

22nd one down...

it says that "S22" is the old code, and "CODE No. 01722-6" is the new code...if this is so, why are they both on the box???

I have a few figures from the RAF personell set from the early 70s, commandos , german infantry, us marines civil war union /confederate british infantry etc . I used to make the 1/76 scale airfix tanks . I had most in the range but none survive . although my son picked up the pontoon bridge at a car boot sale when he was 6. Still got that along with a lot of 1/32 figures
