The first model I started off with the Italeri M977 Kit. The second model I also started with the Italeri M997 hemtt and removed half of the chassis and rebuilt. This is model is about 95% scratchbuilt. The third was also started using an Italeri Hemtt kit. Just the cabin and the lower chassis is from the kit. Everything else is scratched. The forth is an Italeri M923 truck 5ton truck. Everything else is scratched. The fith model is an old Tamiya kit. The chassis is from the original kit but all the add-ons are scratched. The sixth model is an Academy vulcan kit which I turned to represent the turkish Atilgan launcher. Everything on it besides the chassis is scratched.

They are all outstanding, if I was to choose one, and it's very difficult, I would say No.2

WOW Extraordinary Modelling

Hello all, having viewed the photos before reading anyone elses submissions I went and chose no. 3 the articulated lorry. For me the way it sat on the diorama was perfect. The only minor point I'd raise is the way the load sits on the rear. However as my title suggested all of these models are absolutely stunning. The competition must be phenomenal if you are only allowed to enter one piece each!
PLEASE Charles, when you go to the competition will you take and post some photos on here we'd all love to see more of this stunning type of work.

Many thanks for sharing these with us

best regards

Jim

All of those models are superb!

I love the rusted steel panels on that first models, those look really realistc? How did you get the effect?

Just one area which lets some of those down, I think the bases look a little small for the vehicles, rather than set them off they do look a little odd overhanging the edges. Also the white painted on slogans on the first one look a bit too heavily painted - looks out of scale, maybe better without as they are a little too much of a focal point.

I voted for No. 4 It seemed the best composition for me and had a lot of interest and attantion to detail, the models are all great it's more a case of the subject matter thats a little more interesting to me, otherwise it's hard to pick a winner.

Great stuff!

Wow, I was looking at them again a bit earlier and thought to myself, some of the bases could do with being a bit bigger. I wasn't going to say anything and detract from the stunning modelling but if Alan thinks the same then maybe it is a valid point.

Some of them do look a bit cramped and the subject could do with being allowed to breath a bit more.

Don't take it as a negative point but if you are looking for impartial suggestions it may be worth mentioning. The models remain stunning though!

Thanks everyone.

Jim, the cargo on the MK48 LVS was only put there temporarly. I too didn't like the way it was sitting on the back so I removed it after the pic was taken. It won't be part of the model.

The competition is a small local one but they wanted everyone to have an opotunity to be part of it. The next one I'll be going to next year will be the major one where I can then enter all 4 models if I do decide to enter.

Alan, the rusted look was achieved using an article I wrote a awhile ago: Here it is: http://hem.passagen.se/tiking/PDF/ho...rmorplates.pdf

The bases maybe a little too small but I did it this way to take up less space in my glass case. I live in an apartment and don't have so much space to devote to my models. BTW, the model in the first pics is just sitting on the pic frame for the camera. It is not perment. I only used it so I wouldn't touch the model when I was handling the model while taking the pics.

Thanks for your comments and tips. I don't really mind the critics. It's a good thing. It helps me improve. All are taken into consideration. Thanks guys.

the only tiny thought i could add is that the wheels need to look a bit more weighted

Thanks for the tip. I can understand your concern but I've seen other vehicles that do not have the weighted look on their tires. I'm talking about the real thing. In fact, the real vehicle I model in the first pic did not have this characteristics. So I just left it has is.

But I do concur it would have probably looked much nicer if they were weighted.
