Hi again. I thought since I'm in a nostalgic mood I'll share another model that had been built 4 years ago. This was my first all time 99% scratch building model. It is 1/20 scale( not 100% exact but close to it).
I still have it but have taken it outta the glass case to redo it sometime in the future. There are many mistakes on this model but at the time I was just experimenting with it. Anyway, here it is - The CIWS, I think most of you are familiar with the original concept of this armory.
Thanks. It's a MK 15 Phalanx Close-In Weapons System (CIWS - pronounced "sea-whiz"). It's used on navy ships for close air combat against incoming fighter planes.
Very good Tiking. Have you done the "Goalkeeper " too ? I could have done with your talent when I was up-grading the 1/24th Invincible. (page 6 in the Gallery of www.warshipmodelsunderway.com) I agree with RJ the fan covers are brilliant, were they cast resin ?
Thanks guys. When I redo this model it will look more prototype which will be satisfactory to me. FYI, there is a 1/35 scale kit of the CIWS if anyone is interested. It's made by Hobby Fan. The disadvantage - it's over 200 dollars the last time I checked.
