The suporters.

The connection to the main frame.
Drawings of the hinge

And the bolt lifter

One part is finished and the other is ready for some paint. The main structure of this part is made of lasercutted parts.

So it's the lock to hold the legs in position

I made this movable.

Another part that will hang on the side of the legs

The legs are made of an inner structure and the skin rolled on.
Drawing

It was a bit tricky to get this right....since it's not that easy to roll a part of this lenght, but it came out quite nice.

Have to agree with you guys - insane amount of detail/work in this. at first I was kinda "a model, made out of card??? EH?!?!?!?" But it does look incredible. Great stuff Johnny!

Yes, card is not just card
The amount of parts are on the higher level on the models I choose, maybe because I really enjoy the challenge of seeing if I'm able to build a bit "difficult" model. And the time it takes to complete a model are in my cases up to 6 months....so I think I enjoy having fun over longer periods

My advantage is that I'm able to build two different models at the same time.
One at work, and one at home
So it might seems I'm building a lot....

I started on the second support leg. It's made of the inner structure and the outer skin.
There was a long connection strip, but I found it wery difficult to use it since I found no good way to be able to gain some pressure from the inside, so I decided to just join the tube butt to butt.

I will continue on this parts the coming thursday night when I'm back at work.

Howdy johnny,

I just wanted to drop you a note and again reitterate how great this model is looking, I, as well as everyone else who has seen any part of this thread, can't wait to see the completed model.
aAI also wanted to comment on Stuarts last post in this thread, "Have to agree with you guys - insane amount of detail/work in this. at first I was kinda "a model, made out of card??? EH?!?!?!?" But it does look incredible" there is alot of work in card models, as I have said before, there are no premade parts, when you start out you are dealing with 2 dimensional pieces, actually only flat material (paper), its the modeler which brings the 3 dimensional parts to life. Each and every partt of a card model has to be fabricated by the modeler. As a Machinist, I find the construction of cardmodel to be very similar to the work I do building things from raw materials, I am sure that people who craft things from wood could also appreciate cardmodels in a similar manner.......taking formless material and bringing a true work of art to life.
Some famous sculptor once said about his art......."the statue is already there, I just chip away the un needed stone" (or something to that effect). The same applies to cardmodels, the model in its entirety is already there, unfolded and unassembled, its just a matter of the modeler removing the excess paper and assembling it.
Anyway, again Johnny, great looking model so far, I enjoy each posting as it progresses. Hopefully your build will inspire others to attempt one.

Have a good day,

Greg

Here is the drawing of the hinges.Hope this can explain how they are done.

The tricky part is the tiny bolt....and make it stay in the middle when the hinges are assembled. All four hinges had to be glued on the upper part first,I could not do one and one. Then the lower part had to be pulled into the hinges and glued to each hinge.
