| Anyone got a Flea ? Has anyone built a model of the Flying Flea ? this design was originated by Henri Mignet the father of the home built aircraft movement, although the design was flawed with a particular design fault which caught a few even expert pilots out,it was refined and plans for a modern Flea ( the original was built back in the thirties ) put on the market.
The main difference as regards a standard aircraft was that she was steered by its rudder and the whole wing pivoted to act as the elevator,it was the latter which unless set up carefully led to the many accidents with the type, eventually they were banned after hundreds were built in lofts, garden sheds etc.
I have built a few examples over the years and got them to fly properly, there was one incident incidently that happened with a radio model that replicated the dangers with the design, the model flipped and tucked under itself ! no way could I get her to upright again and landed inverted a situation that had fatal consequences with the full size example.
The photograph shows a peanut sized rubber model which teaches you everything there is needed for this particular unique aeroplane.
