The M1129 mortar Styker

Well, here is mine contribution to the cause. It is a the M1129 Mortar Stryker. I used the AFV Club kit and converted it with lots of scratchbuilt parts. I used Tamiya rattle cans. I do not use an airbrush. i first sprayed it using Tamiya's Nato Green, and then used desert yellow for the splattered bud effect. Then I took some black paint and diluted with water. Then added some window cleaner liquid and mixed everything until it was very diluted. mixed it well then took a brush and brushed it over the entire model. After letting it dry for a couple of minutes, I used real dirt to add more dirt effect to it. I have yet to add the gun:

A very nice job it is as well. I like the detail in the equipment and the strap on stuff and the paint job has come out superb. I'm also a great fan of the Tamiya (and Halfords!) rattle cans. I'd like to get more out of my airbrush one day but never really seem to have enough to do to justify getting it dirty!. I also think airbrushing can easily be overdone and I tend to prefer to use dry brushing and washes.

Thumbs up

Howdy Charles,

Fantastic looking model! Simply awesome detail. Seeing your model makes me want to build my M-270 MRLS (multiple rocket launch system) by dragon models.
I have alot of armor kits including 1:48 scale models of the patriot missile battery and all accompanying vehicles as well as Germanys new "Self propelled "super-Howitzer".
Great model and keep up the good work Charles.

Have a good day,

Greg

Thanks for the comments guys. Grey, whatis the brand of the Patriot set that you have? I scratchbuilt the Launcher and cannister, which was a challange.

Howdy charles,

I have the ARII kits of the (2)Patriot antenna mast, (1)patriot control vehicle, (2)patriot "ladar" system and the (2)patriot launcher.
I bought all 7 models on ebay for the price i would normally pay for one at the hobby shop.. I paid somewhere around $30 for all 7 models as a "lot".
I havent built any of them yet, as a matter of fact, I havent even unwrapped them.

have a good day,

Greg
