What 1/72 figures?

I am after some 1/72 figures for my small airfield diorama, but am having difficulty finding appropriate models.

What I need is civilian figures standing, bending and squatting. These will be the civi-pilots and mechanics that would be found on a small airfield.

There seems to be loads of different soldiers available from almost every era, yet I can't find civilians.
Anyone know of suitable soldiers set that could be converted with minimal effort?

Thanks Tony. I look in on the railway stuff for lots of things, especially scenery etc, but forgot about looking for figures. Doh!
Gaz, some of those links look favourable. Just a shame the ones I like are not in stock.

Thanks for the help so far guys.
After looking at some of the railway figures I am a little disappointed by the price they are for up to around six figures. Although more suitable in pose and costume etc. they are expensive for what i want.
This is why I was looking initially at all the many soldier box sets available. I don't mind painting them or doing some minor surgery.
Any more ideas guys?
