      Varnish/Future question

Do you guys weather and varnish the interior cabin and engine pieces before you put the fuselage together? Or do you wait until the whole thing is built and then spray everything (do you even varnish the interior bits?)?

Also do you prime the exterior of the fuselage before or after assembly?

I paint and weather the cockpit and engine sub-assemblies before assembling the fuselage. I don't usually bother varnishing these parts.
I prime the exterior of the model after assembly,I don't want paint on surfaces that will later be glued.
      Cheers

I am with Steve on that. Only time I would varnish internal bits would be if they turned out glossy and i wanted them matt. One of the main reasons for varnishing is for addd protection of the paintwork from handling and cleaning the dust off over time. The internals do not need this protection so much.

It's a balance between easy access and paining a sub assembly. Unfortunately with a cockpit you simply can't gain good acces after it is assembled so you have no choice other than to weather before you put the fuselage together. The saving grace is though that the joints can very rarely be seen after the fuselage is together anyway so there is usually no worry about getting to it.
