Cleaning between coats

You'll paint your model and inevitably, before your second coat you will get some fingerprints on it. Are there any good products for cleaning already painted models?
I have read somewhere to soak them in a detergent and them rinse them. This method seems a little bit harsh to me. Water in the fuselage, cockpit...

for what its worth mate I use the throw away gloves althogh a lot of modelers use cotton gloves the acid free one's used for document handeling

Thanks Tony. What about if you use Blu Tack for masking? It will leave some residue on the paint that will have to be cleaned. Any ideas for this?
