The Foster Wikner Wicko is one of those aeroplanes that looks like a model in reverse,it features all of the ideal proportions to build a first class flying model of this aircraft, with a Clark-Y wing section, boxy fuselage,a really attractive spatted undercarriage she looks really good from any angle.
The original aircraft was the brainchild of G.N.Wikner who constructed a mere handful of these tiny touring machines from a furniture factory called Lustys furniture factory ltd, built by craftsmen in 1936,this example G-AFJB still survives to this day having recently undergone an extensive rebuild with Ron Souch to fly again as seen here.
The aircraft was also used for air racing by Lettice Curtice post war,she originally flew the aircraft during wartime when it was used by the Air Transport Auxiliary as an hack,it was then called the 'Warferry'
So an important little aircraft has been resurrected to fly again, she certainly defies here age.
As a model subject, whether for free flight, radio or superscale she would prove ideal.
