Question Keil Kraft

As a kid I was always into Keil Kraft, never really about flying them, but just loved how they looked when put together. The shape of the fusilage and wings, before covering with the outer skin was amazing. Felt like a sin to cover up the bones of the model. Just bought 3 x kits in absolute A+ condition a Spit, Hurricane and ME109, look like they have come straight from the factory. One still says it cost 75p, should I build them or keep them for as they are?

If they are from the same material as when I used to pay 2/3d for them it would be better to photo copy the bits onto decent wood and keep the original as a collectors item.

Vitesse, build them all, enjoy these little models to their fullest,if you dont want to disturb the printwood go take the plans and printwood to your local printshop, get them to copy the parts etc onto stickback self adhesive paper place this onto new balsa, once cut out remove the paper, bonus is the the paper keeps the grain together whilst cutting, also you can use better wood than some of the heavy material suplied in the kit, build light as you can, avoid warps by pinning down to the board whilst wet and using dope, for stunning flight fit the KP.01 Knight & Pridham electric motor and just see them climb, fun modelling at its best, but you really must build them !

Yep, I would agree with the others, get the parts copied or the plans at least and keep the original kits as they are.
I came into this hobby via KeilKraft kits and had many happy hours building them and flying them. I still have a KeilKraft Minimoa Kit in the loft as Barry very spookily predicted on the plans article on here....I am sure he is in my loft somewhere lol !!!

Regards......Mark.

To be honest I don't think there is anything Barry doesn't know regarding models and aircraft in particular!!

***The H.J.Nicholls designed Mercury Aeronca Sedan,Monocoupe etc are some of my favourite vintage old kits,I found the latter in a newsagents shop at Towyn and built her for radio with mini servos and two cylinder small glow motor, then converted her to electric power, what a joy to fly,if there is one area that I would alter it would be the two piece wing, fine for freeflight but a bit fiddly threading the bands through the paxolin tubes.
Super designs and real builders models,I must have built at least three Sedans in my time,by the way you show G-AREX Aeronca Sedan, this was an aeroplane that I worked on at Birmingham airport back in 1970,had a flight in her as well ! what a co-incidence.

Because of the way I came by these kits from a deceased modellers estate via a Ebay trader in Codsall Wolverhampton.....I didnt know what I was picking up ......it was quite a detective story finding out what was what ...if you followed my links......I now know all but the rubber powered free flights name and have plans for all.

The MAS being a scale civy light aircraft threw me..I hadnt had much interest in the type till got this then I bought an 72" span Auster 7 plan and I had to start learning.

Enitially with no plan and just a part finished fuse I had to scour light aircraft sites ...looking for tell tale features to ID the model....in the end it came down to an Aeronca or a Stinson ......then a lucky break enabled me to pin it down exactly.

That plane was heavily featured in a research article that was sent to me kindly by another modeler.I have it on file as reference material.....The wing Fixing Method is an issue with this model and as my thread indicates its proved a potentially fatal design flaw on several occasions so mines going to be Electric and modified fixings Millers is going to be Diesel PAW or ED....hes the derv expert. mines going to have a full compliment of toy wombles for crew... ..... What was your motor/power set up on your E flight version Barry please?
