Iain, the very hot weather is playing havoc with these iron on covering materials,my models look the same with wrinkles etc,if you have one of hose heat ype guns then a quick blast over the surfaces will restore the tightness.
The slight dampness on the wood is nothing to worry about,my biggest problem is mice making their nests in fuselages etc and they enjoy chewing electrical wiring as well which is serious, you should see the mess that they make of foam ! so always check over any model that has been stored in a shed for seasonal damage, give the model a good once over before flight as you should do after any lay up.

yea i just ironed over the edges and re done a few bad bits like the tail skid my first time at covering wasnt the best for ares with lots of small corners lol

i still need to do the elevator rudder and aeriolons(sp) hopefull i can get the elevator rudder and aeriolons done tonight if the areldite drys fully (i dont know if its 24h stuff or not but i have a feeling it is

but the aeriolones can get done today though
will have to get my dad to help with the hinges bit cos i aint got a clue how to do it correctly

edit: also i dont know what engine to put in it a 30- a 45 is suitable i think it said on the box

dont have a 30 but i have several 40s and one 45

i have a os fs40 fourstroke would that be ok to put in it or is it not advisable?

Nice Model Iain,

I too had to reshrink the solarfilm on my plane recently after digging it out of the loft but that is easy work and is all done now.
If the Araldite is the 24 hr stuff best leave it to cure for that period and certainly a bit longer before attempting to use the plane just to ensure everything is set rock solid.

What plane is it, I know it's a trainer but which one..??? I thought it looked a bit like the Mick Reeves Hawk but the nose end is different.

If the box says a .45 is suitable for your plane then use the one you have. The box should give an engine range so check that to see what it says as you may be able to use the .40 as well. If the minimum engine size is a .25 2 stroke then you could get away with using the OS 4 Stroke, if the minimum engine size is higher than a .25 you may struggle with the 4 Stroke as it will be underpowered.

Hope that hasn't confused you.

Regards......Mark

Hi Iain

Yes I remember that one well, did a quick search online and the recommended engine range is .40 to .59 2 strokes....so sadly your 4 stroke will not be powerful enough for this one.

You could use either your .40 or .45 2 strokes quite happily though as they both fall within the recommended range.

Regards.......Mark

hmm on my box it only says for 35 to 45 engines

i dont think a 50 will fit in it

i just googled it too and the one that is the 40-59 is a arf mine was a kit (i you can call it that)

it was all stamped on plyboard mainly

but the one pictued for it is the same one but my box says 35 to 40

although mine is a precedent hi boy series II not the 40

may stick a meteor 40 or a os 40

Thanks Iain,

Yes you are right, there was a larger version which must have been the one I found. At least you know your engine range now but that 4 stroke will still not be powerful enough for it. Shame as I think 4 strokes sound so nice.

they do indeed

you can even make a custom pipe without the chamber for the pressure nipple

just a straight through

supposed to give it higher rpm

dunno how you get the fuel pressure though

read it on a rc car forum

needs quite a bit of mods to fit a four stroke to a nitro car though

Never tried a 4 stroke on a car but have seen them fitted to several planes and they sound so nice in the air. Would love to try one in a Helicopter as they are supposed to sound more realistic as you can actually hear the Blade noise !!

Regards......Mark
