Hasegawa 1:48 F-16A build

right. as some of you know i have been looking forward to making a hasegawa f-16A in 1/48. I particualy like the either 1998 or 2003 tiger meet decals.

after a bit of searching i had the options of either getting an F-16A off ebay and buying the 1998 tiger meet decals seperatly. I had previously found a 1:48 2003 tiger meet on a website but they no longer did models.

...well it came to my actaully buying it this month and with thorough searching by myself, squiffythewombat and other uk distributers and companies we realised that hasegawa no longer produced an F-16A in 1:48 let alone a tiger meet one. They do however do 1 1:48 F-16 but this is the F-16 CJ which is a Japanese model.

I was content on getting the F-16A as Eduard do a HUGE after-market set for it and i have had the vision of the complete kit for some time now so there was no turning back....much to the dissapointment of a few companies i phoned.

Anyway....after all this i rang the company that DID have the 1:48 2003 tiger meet kit on a chance they may still have it but no longer have it listed on their website. (by squiffythewombats recomendation) i rang them....no joy. 20 minutes later the lady rang back. She had a feeling there was one hidden in the stock room somewhere, and she was right!!!

so after all this trouble...and you reading all my babbling this will be the build thread of the Hasegawa 1:48 F-16A Fighting Falcon with the 2003 NATO Tiger Meet paint scheme with the Eduard Big Ed after market parts.

see the attachment for a pic of the box. I will get some propper photos up once i get the kit.

See link for the eduard after-market parts.

I am going to set this either in a hanger (kind of cross-sectioned so you can see inside) or as if it is at an airshow and ropped off.

Richard I have just been reading an article in my new Tamiya Modelling International magazine about an F-16 build.

It is, as always, stunning but I'll have a look for you and give you a bit more. There would definately be one or two usefull tips in it though.

Go for it Richard,
The F-16 is firmly in my top 10 of jets and this should be really nice in the Tiger Meet Scheme.
Glad you had success in finding your model and am looking forwards to seeing the pics.

Regards.......Mark.

well after all the searching including hasegawa's uk distributer im pretty sure this is the ONLY 1:48 hasegawa F-16A for sale in the UK (excluding ebay where there are a few F-16A Plus's) epscially in any of the tiger meet shemes so am a very happy chappy today

the F-16 is also on of my favourite (obviously) as well as the F-4 phantom, the SU-27 Flanker, the F-15 Strike Eagle, the F-22 Raptor (get a feeling i like lockheed Martin?) the harrier GR-7, the F/A-18 Super Hornet. and the A-10 for some ground pounding!!!.....to name a few!!!

....and obvioulsy if you like the F-16 you have to like the Mitsubishi F-2 as there is very little difference!

Richard it was Tamiya Model Magazine International Issue Number 130 August 2006 and the build was the Tamiya 1/32nd F-16 being converted to an Israeli Air Force jet.

As always the detail in this magazine is unbeleivable but the techniques used to bring out the surface detail are very interesting.

Surprisingly enough they used the Humbrol Metalcote polished steel for the exhaust. Where are we going to get that now??!!

Howdy RJ and everyone,

If you would like some other peoples opinions on this model and others (all types, all brands), be sure to check out this link:

http://modelingmadness.com/kitindex/kitindexmain.htm

There are reviews of most any model you can think of, they may provide some help in your build if you need/want it.

Have a good day,

Greg

kit came today. looks a nice kit and its going to look 100x better with the eduard details!

its quite large now remembering its 1:48 its length is 313mm and its wing span is 210mm!!

here is a picture of the decal sheet. according to the pictures of the 2003 tiger meet F-16 the tail artwork is actually wrong! but it still looks good so im not too bothered!

the decals seem quite good quallity but we will find out!!
