Swastika's, other forbiden icons.

While surfing the net I often find printable national insignia's, AC logos, & save them in my computer. By playing with them in Adobie, I can reduce or inlarge them to fit the plane I'm building. Its a matter of cutting them out & using Glu-Stick to stick them on my model. It may not work for plastic, but works for wood or paper. After the finished model is completed, & given a coat of clear laquar, its hardly noticable. A good example is the free Avia B-534. there is a whole page of national insignia's. Ironicly, there are some half swastika's to, LoL. You can find better ones on the net. Also some squadron emblems, & nose art. In the USA, the capital of polical correctness. As long as it isn't a Rebel Flag, a Indian name or symbol, it's O. K. ChukyChez

I remember the old airfix kits that came with a decal sheet with the swastika's cut out by hand with scissors.

Can you still buy kit's with those cut out? I assume that decals have possibly been reprinted to omit those now. Been a while since I looked at making any aircraft kits.

Does anyone know when they prevented the sale of those?

Come to think of it I sold some Books about the SS a while back, they were being chucked out of waterstones and a local charity shop had about 30 of them...I had a little swastika icon as a part of the image in the advert...goodness I was probably violating countless laws by selling those. :O

I always used to wonder what happened to all those swastika's that got cut out...pretty odd job tho...Forbidden waterslide decal cutter!

:O

Alan,I have never heard about the cut out swastikas ? but encountered a similar thing when visiting German some years ago when visiting a toy shop,I purchased some tiny decal sheets,it was only when I got home to England that I realised that someone had scribed out heavily with a ball point pen the tiny swastikas on the sheet,it looked as if it had been done with some vengeance.
Certainly the decal sheets from Airfix that are in my collection are sans the swastika,so it is possible that this was an emergency measure having printed out those decals beforehand,or it is possible that the kits were earmarked for a sensitive area of the world.
