Question Reference Pictures for a Dornier Do217 E5

Hi, I normally build cars, but for some reason, i have suddenly switched to 1/48th model aircraft. Specifically the german ones between 1939 and 1945 (secong world war stuff). An have bought a revell Dornier Do217 E5 fighter Bomber. And was wondering about interior photographs, as i have used a few websearches and have found nothing useful. i was just wondering as the paint guide for some parts is pretty vauge and any photos would be apreciated.
Thanks in Advance
Euan

Howdy Porsche,

For photos, you might try looking at the ones found here: http://images.google.com/images?svnu...o+217++cockpit

Now there arent many photos there, but its a start.

A kit review of an airfix Do 17 can be found here: http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/a...ttarddo17p.htm

A kit review of another airfix Do 17 can be found here: http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/a.../wantado17.htm

And another kit review of a Hobbycraft Do 17 can be found here: http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/a...ft/weber17.htm

The last model by hobbycraft I believe is an "e" version of the Do 17.

You might also look at the links found here for other refference material: http://www.ask.com/web?qsrc=31&o=0&l=dir&q=Dornier%20Do217%20cockpit

I hope these help,

Greg

Howdy RJ,

The walkaround was the very first thing I looked for when I saw his request for photos lol. But nope, they dont have one.

Have a good day,

Greg

Guys - There are no examples of the D017Z in existence. I don't believe there are of the D0215 either. Hence, no walkarounds.

Guys - Postscript - the same is true I believe for the Do 217. They are all (un fortunately) completely extinct.

Books on the Do 217 are rare - the ones that I am aware of are:
a) Dornier 217" by Manfred Griehl
b) Polish language book on the Do 217J / N (i.e. the night fighters) published by Kagero
I suspect that the cockpit of both Do 217E and Do 217J or Do 217N were basically similar at the top level - these German bombers tended to be built like double-decker busses with an "upstairs" and a "downstairs" ... but little in the way of flooring !
The internet is great for the "common" stuff like 109s and Spitfires but for most bombers, including the Dorniers, you need reference books - and Dorniers are not well covered
I am a Do 17 nut myself but plan to build a 217E-5 this year
