This is the Completed Spitfire ( at long last )
Tamiya 1/48 Mark I
Spitfire

It has Eduard Photoetch , Ultracast Seat ,
Ultracast 3 Bladed Propellor -
I discarded the Tamiya one supplied , as it was a bit poor
Ultracast Resin Exhausts * all worth every penny * -
I managed to drill 3 small holes both sides of the radiator bulkhead fixing
on the wing so you can see light through the radiator mesh
( worth the effort - very realistic ),
and the Eduard Mesh can be see in my closeup underwing shot

Hope you all like it
best wishes
David Walker

* It was just a coincidence that the Squadron Letters are my initials !

David, that looks superb. One of the nicest looking Spits and a lovely model of it.

Can you tell us a bit about the weathering techniques you used? It looks nice and subtle yet very effective.

Dear richard

As I chose to model the aircraft flown by the British 610 Squadron ,then the aircraft is in the early British day fighter scheme of Dark Green over Dark Earth with Sky undersides.

I used acrylic paint throughout , but before I started proper painting , I hand paint light red Gloss paint over the panel lines , as this seems to suck up the colour making it darker when I come to use proper paint .

I know it seems dumb , but it seems to work for me - hence the results !

After letting the paint dry overnight, I airbrushed a light coat of Future to prepare the surface for decaling. The decals went on quite well and responded to Microsol without any permanent wrinkling.

After drying overnight, I wiped the decals off with a moist cloth with Pollys Plastic Prep to remove any residue and after drying I shot a light coat of Future over the decals to seal them.
Next, a light coat of Polly S Flat Finish was shot to provide a surface for pastels. I used a watercolor based wash of sepia to highlight the engraved detail such as the panel lines. I then used pastels applied with a soft brush to simulate the dirt staining that is commonly seen on these aircraft that were operated from grass fields. Lastly, I sealed everything with a light coat of Polly S Flat Finish

hope that answered your question

best wishes

David

What is this? Are you rationing your photos? Why don't you upload them to this website's gallery, then we can all enjoy them?

Hi ,

I have taken NEW Photos -

and uploaded them on my Gallery Section of My Pictures

I humbly point out that there is a little dust on my Plane Model

mainly due to the fact I have still to afford a Proper Display Case !

so apologies for that .

Hopefully you like the newer Pictures ?

regards David

PS I was pulling your legs ...............
