Question Tamiya Spitfire Mark I - help required on Radiator Detail .

Hi ,

I am about to built the Tamiya 1/48 Kit , and replace the Exhausts ,
3 Bladed Propellor , Seat and Wheels with Ultracast items .........

Now - the Underwing ' Box ' which is the Radiator Fairing -

I intend to replace the front and back parts supplied seperately by Tamiya by Mesh from Photo-Etch ( who makes the best - Eduard ? )

Now the Question -

Should I drill out the front and back parts of the underwing casting to allow light to be seen through the radiator - or is that not necessary ?

What is the most authentic way -
looked at photos on the web , but not conclusive

regards

David

The way I've always thought of it the box houses the radiator itself so you wouldn't be able to see through it.

All my reference stuff is at home I'm afraid so i can't be 100% but I'm sure you would only see the grille.

if you wanted extra detail as well i can sugest a few things that a p/e detail set would tip off.

you can get some mk.1 exhausts from Ultracast:

http://www.ultracast.ca/products/48/040/default.htm

some wheels from ultracast as well with various differnt designs (3 spoke, 4 spke, 5 spoke and hub):

http://www.ultracast.ca/products/48/066/default.htm

ultracast also do a lovely prop and spinner:

http://www.ultracast.ca/products/48/112/default.htm

Cutting Edge make a very nice cockpit:

http://www.meteorprod.com/cgi-bin/me...Tamiya+cutting

here is a nice build up/review of a spit using the prop and cockpit. you can see how good they turn out!

hope all that is useful.now i want to do another spit! lol
