| F 94C STARFIRE 1953 revell model Howdy guys, Ok, I know its been awhile since I posted a pic or completed a model for that matter, but, today I had a little free time (about 3 hours) and during two of those hours I built, painted and finished this old Revell kit of the F 94C STARFIRE from 1953. I seem to have this "thing" for old models or models of unusual subjects (I still have the twin rotor H 43B Huskie Helicopter to build also, its a strange looking bird). Anyway, it was dark when I completed the Starfire so I only took one photo on my driveway, I plan on taking some more in sunlight tomorrow when I get off work. Have a good evening, Greg |

| GW, Check out Barry's Starfire and my comments about it. http://www.scale-models.co.uk/showth...fire#post25451
It is amazing how these old kits are still around and still evoke many fond memories of them first time around.

| Thats a quick build Greg, the model looks just great and as Bunkers and many others say it is one of their favourite models.
The F-94C was light years ahead of aircraft technology and was a good looking jet.

| Howdy Guys, Well, the starfire has always been one of my favorites also, like I said above, the unusual aircraft seem to be a type of model I really enjoy. I realize that the starfire was state of the art at the time it was constructed, but its life was short even compared to aircraft of today. Normally I try to stay away from "metallic" colored aircraft, I have never really had much success with stainless steel, aluminum, chrome or other metallic paints. However, Recently RJ mentioned Alclad paint.... and although this was not alclad, I did view their website and it gave a tip on the "base color" to use under the polished aluminum paint. It stated for best results, use a gloss black as a base coat, then cover with the metallic finish. This is what I did and although it was a hurried job, I was pleased with it. In the past I had tried base coats of flat black, flat white, and even gray, but it was the gloss in the gloss black that seems to make all of the difference. Anyway, it was too late this evening here for me to take any daylight photos, so I will have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks for the kind words and Barry, yours looks great! Its the same model, except mine is a revell issue, complete with a "new" pivoting stand! lol (New in 1953 I guess). Have a good day, Greg |

| Oh happy day - great memories of ALL those odd-scale kits of the 50's & early 60's. If I remember correctly this one had a detailed one-piece cockpit and pilots. Built this and the 'Scorpion' - way, way back. |

| Howdy Crash, The post being in the wrong forum would have been my fault lol. When i posted the thread way back in 06' apparently I placed it in the wrong forum, I have corrected it. (My first official "Moderator" duty). Thanks for pointing it out to me, if you run across anymore, please point them out, this was kinda fun moving a whole thread from one forum to another. Have a good day, Greg aka GW |

| One of the first jet kits that I ever built was the Lincoln International F-94C Starfire,no undercarriage,a lump for a pilot and those horrible raised lines denoting where the decals were to be positioned ! but at the time it was the bees knees in kit manufacturing.
