Thanks for the tips guys, I will give them some thought.

That site "Welcome to Air-Britain" is fantastic for ideas and colour schemes. I found what I wanted there and more. Brill!
I certainly wouldn't be embarrassed about being a spotter, but I am not unfortunately. Many more years ago than I care to count I would have been classed as though. I could identify any commercial aircraft in the sky. That interest moved onto other things though as I grew up and I can honestly say to my kids now that I have forgotten more than they know, for the time being anyway. Lol!

I think in fairness to Airfix, it is possible that the kits I have are not the most recent. So the quality may not be down to them, but to their subcontractors. Didn't Heller produce a lot for them?
Bring back British quality I say!

I have quite a production line going at the moment with lots of kits in various stages of construction.

No all Airfix kits are 'in house' these days, the final tooling from Heller is now firmly safely stored with Hornby and has been refurbished,in all fairness as discussed here before the moulds are old and prone to flash build up,I personally would sooner see these revamped products available than not at all,a bit of flash removal is a small price to pay for their availability.

I agree with you entirely, but I did say that my kits could be quite old.
It is much better that they stay available and are able to improve in the future than go out of production.
It was more of a general comment rather than a complaint about Airfix, and maybe a minor comparison with other kits, which way back when Airfix ruled supreme, were not up to Airfix standard generally. Or so it seemed to me at the time. Maybe my rose tinted glasses again!
