*** Hello Kiwi,I know very little about this actual model but understand that it flies very well indeed, the motors are PU Pager motors linked together.

Well this is story of it at he Indoor Nats as I read about it. Quoted direct:
"Peter Smart approaches the flight line with a large Messerschmitt Me 323 Gigant. At 49" (1245mm) wingspan it looks alarmingly big for an indoor model. What's more it has SIX engines!
The atmosphere becomes tense as Peter puts the model down and waits for the green light. Then he replaces the nose door and walks away.
Thinking something has gone wrong, the crowd peer anxiously over the balcony. Perhaps the battery is dead? but no......
Suddenly the engines run up to full power and the take off run begins. Gently, oh so gently, the Gigant rises off the floor with it's ten wheels still spinning and climbs slowly to about 12 ft altitude.
Instead of climbing further, the engines throttle back, the wings rock slightly and she begins to lose height - slowly - to finally grease in for a perfect touchdown.. Not content with that, she taxies up to the judges and the engines cut - all to a roar of approval from competitors and the audience."
Further details on the electronic gadget that makes this happen is in Flying Scale Models August 2004 edition and on Mike Stuarts site www.thestuarts.freeserve.co.uk
there are also more photos on the SFA site as well.

thanx for that kiwi, sounds like a great show that is put on by this model.

i dont know the rules reg` etc for indoor flight, but that does sound very impressive!

cracking website there with loads of pics and info, i have to say that the amount of time and effort that go`s into such small models, it seems a shame to risk flying them, the dimensions and weights involved are astonishing.

There was a "normal" size, about 2 mtr., Gigant model at one of the European events recently, cant remember where. It had 400 size motors, opening front door with r/c tank coming down the loading ramp. Wouldnt it be great sound if it was i.c. engines ? Mind you starting them all would be a laugh on a cold day ! What is the most multi engines anybody has had on a plane? Dornier Do.X I suppose would be hard to beat.

http://www.thestuarts.freeserve.co.uk/page3y.htm

Just realised that this model is not blue foam construction as I originally stated but conventional balsa/tissue,my informant will be shot at dawn ! the direct link to the page is above, thanks Kiwi for bringing the additional info to our attention.
Good to see this type of modelling on the increase, the finish on these models is a credit to the builders considering that weight saving is the essence of getting them flying successfully, notice that the props are handed so eliminating torque effect.
A piece of art in its own right.
