| Tinted cockpits and canopies.
If you are having problems in finding a suitable colour to tint a clear moulding such as a cockpit canopy etc then try this here,I know that some companies do clear finish paint but nine times out of ten it is the wrong shade and not everyone can get on with acrylics-
Into a small container put a small quantity of clear varnish and add a very small amount of refined linseed oil,give this a good stir and allow the bubbles to settle,next add artists oil paint to the desired shade to the mix ( a small starter pack will have plenty of colours and be useful in lots of other jobs ) mix in the oil colour and adjust consistency with a bit of paint thinner.
Test out on a clear piece of plastic sheet and allow to dry,it is best to flow on the colour rather than lots of over brushing,result a nice tinted canopy in the correct shade.
Note this type of finish requires a longer drying time due to the linseed oil mix,so be patient !
