C L 417 Hopit ?

Am I Right In Thinking That The Hopit Was A C/l Plan Of An Autogyro, I Remeber Scaling Up A Controll Line Plan Of An Autogyro Some Years Ago, I Fitted A Super Tiger X 25 Motor , Had The Blades On Ball Raced Bearings, With Elevator And Rudder Controll , The First Flight I Had Was Amazing, I Did About Four Circuits, Slow Flight Was Unbeliveable, Now For The Funny Bit , When I Was Building It , I Did'nt Know Which Way The Blades Would Rotate, Any Way On The Last Circuit The Blades Decided To Go Their Own Way And Left The Model Behind To Fall To It's Death While They Happly Floated Back To Terrafirma With Out A Scratch, Now I Know Which Way They Rotate, As They Had Undone The Bolt That I Had Tightened Against The Bearing, Some Where I Still Have The Scaled Up Drawings ? One Day I May Find Them And Build Another One (one Day)?

Not to be confused with the Hobbit of course, which was an R/C kit. The Hopit is still available from the X-List people. see www.xlistplans.demon.co.uk

***The one that I built for C/L was the Tyro Gyro, what a heap of fun this machine was,you could literally land it nose high on the tail skid and she would settle nicely, with throttle control on a third line you could make a good modern autogyro.
