ESky Honeybee 2

Wondered if anyone on the forum has any information about the latest model of the Honeybee 2 with the collective pitch. I understand the earlier model had a bit of a problem with a sticking CP on take off - (solved by the addition of an extra stepped washer on each assembly). ..... and could someone please explain in simple terms what CCPM is.
Many thanks.

Hi Chris - Well I've always fancied having a small heli for the garden when I can't be bothered going up to the pond - but I reckon subs will be more interesting in the long run - speaking of which have you seen the web site www.northseasfleet.co.uk they're now selling ready to go static divers for around £300 with fitted dive tank. There's no radio gear with them but I've got plenty of that now - just need another Hitec receiver and a speed controller - I've got two or three spares servos already. It's something I'm thinking about already to save building one. I haven't done my sea trials with Seawolf yet - it's been too darn cold around here to stand about round our draughty pond - maybe next week. The wife say she wants to go with me to see the maiden voyage in case it submerges and disappears for good (how's that for confidence in my modelling skills?) Anyway as far as the heli goes I've seen a good offer with some spare blades thrown in but whether or not I go for it will depend on any reports I get. Sunk any good targets this week?

*** Go here http://www.iroquois.free-online.co.uk/ccpm.htm Cyclic/Collective/Pitch Mixing ( CCPM )is an envolved system of linking these three basic helicopter functions, first of all ask yourself,do I really need this function ? then study the pages on the link above, for normal and even advanced flying it is not required, the best curve can be derived from your model helicopter settings as shown in the manual,be warned sometimes setting up CCPM can lead to swashplate set up problems,it is the old story combine too many things and you can arrive at a can of worms, the system can be arrived at both mechanically, electronically or a combination of both.
Quite honestly it is impossible to explain the set up simply but the above link is the best available.
Any model helicopter will be improved with collective pitch, the early fixed pitch models were a real handful to fly properly, helicopter flight is so reliant on the throttle/pitch common bond, whatever your aims best of luck in your flying.

Ian,
Not sure if have seen the latest version of the Honeybee but I recently saw a honeybee being flown at my local beach. Fortunately the weather conditons that day were perfect, dry & sunny and most importantly, no wind.
I had a chat with the guy flying it, he was just getting his hovers sorted and was not doing a bad job with it either.
He had a home made training undercarriage fitted, (the cross poles type thing with small balls on the end fitted onto the skids). He told me he had thought about buying the proper item but this was in excess of £20. He made his from a couple of lengths of hollow fibreglass rod and 4 ping pong balls for under £6. It looked the part and from what I saw was perfect for this Helicopter as it did not add too much extra weight.

Good Luck with yours .......Mark.

Thanks for the Info Mark - sorry for the delay in replying, I'm on so many forums for boats and aircraft and metal detecting I can't seem to keep pace with the replies, and I think this forum is the only one I use that doesn't notify me that there's been a reply.

Thanks Barry - I'll sort that one out right away. I'd like to ask you a real novice question while I've got your attention mate - and it's this.... if the crystal in a 40 mhz TX is replaced with a 35 mhz crystal can it be used on that frequency. Now my thoughts were that it wouldn't work because the TX would be tuned to 35. BUT it might be that the main circuitry is in the crystal.... now the reason I ask this is because I saw someone at our club who was having problems with his boat and was unsure if his TX was faulty borrowed someones crystal out of a 27mhz TX and put it in his 40mhz TX and it worked although not as efficiently as it was expected to. I thought that was really amazing.... what do you reckon Barry????
