| If I Won The Lottery.... I would have one of these....what a beautiful machine !!
The concept has already been seen in the form of the V-22 Osprey TiltRotor Aircraft.
Bell Helicopters, who were one of the development partners with Boeing for the V-22 have now teamed up with Agusta Helicopters and this baby was born.
The BA-609 Civilian TiltRotor, she is a fine looking machine.

| I'm not a flight fan, but that machine looks very interesting.
Judging by the video it looks as if forward motion is achieved by slightly tilting the pods, that would seem to require very fine gears if used in a model.
Do you know if this has been modelled?

| Hi Jankers,
Not sure if it has been modelled yet, it is a new machine in full size as the video says, it was on a demo flight last year. Still a very nice looking machine and as you rightly state, it does have control just by tilting the pods, this is very evident when it is on the ground and the Pilot wants to turn to the right on the runway, watch the pods then.
The Videos on the official site at www.bellagusta.com are worth a watch too.
A model of this would be awesome.
Regards....Mark.

| She is the Bell Agusta 609,those pictures were filmed back in 2002,note the Dutch roll effect ( rocking wings ) signs that there is something not quite right with the design, probably too much dihedral on those wings ?

| I don't think so!
At least with a helicopter when motor cuts you can land, with this................, rather spectacular I think, this is a prototype only I trust? |

| Hmm, very interesting, those rotors would require some work though, they look unlike any propellors I've ever seen, at least from what i can judge.

| Since first laying eyes on this design a few years back my only thoughts were ...Crikey, thats a lot of moving parts to go wrong!
.The stress involved must be enourmous.

| Actually, if you lose an engine in this bad boy you can still land in a STOL configuration. This is basically a mini-V22 ad sports most of the same features they have. I have several good buddies operating the Osprey overseas right now and they love it. They have nothing to say but how reliable and enjoyable to fly it is.
Love it or leave it, this is the future of small time commercial aviation. |
