As you are probably aware there are loads of various little electric R/C Helicopters on the market these days. Some of them still around the £150 mark or slightly less right down to those little foam pico ones for around £30.
Saw this one today in Maplin, a Hughes 300 retailing at £39.99. I had a good look at it and must admit I was very impressed by it for it's price. It comes ready set up and with everything needed to fly more or less straight away (well once the battery is charged !!)
Timberland, Lincs: Nassau, Bahama's: Port Canaveral, USA: and all points in between.

I had a play with one at a model boat vendors open day about a year ago and I was very impressed. Great fun and the foam ones are relatively harmless so fine to play with indoors. They appeal to the boy's toys market more than most I think!!

Mark,I fly the Twister Bell 47G from my back yard on calm evenings,great fun doing crop spraying runs down the new lawn ! the mechanics on the Maplin one looks very similar and the tiny gyro tail correct device is a work of art,it does not entail a tail rotor to counteract torque as that is taken care of by the contra main rotors,but works well non the less giving tiny imputs.
Lots of fun for a small outlay.
The one in Maplins is only 2 channel which I think you would quickly outgrow; I've recently bought an E_Sky Lama V4 which I can highly recommend, it's a full 4 channel set up which comes complete RTF for around £60, had mine for 2 weeks now and I fly it every day round my living room, great fun trying to avoid the furniture and sharpens up my reflexes no end!
I tend to agree with you regarding the Maplins Model, I have seen a few videos of it in action on youtube and it doesn't look too much fun, there are only a couple of semi decent flights of it on video. The rest of it is spinning the tail round and I can do that nicely when I want to with my I/C powered Heli's. Do a search for Syma on Youtube and you will come up will plenty of videos for this one.
If I do go for an electric Heli, it would definitely have to have all the full functions and collective pitch for what I want......I can vouch for the sharpening the reflexes bit and dodging the furniture flying indoors too, A work colleague bought one of these and is still learning how to avoid the furniture !!

there crap, my sister works for PMS and they import these and a lot of other chinese toot, she got me one and it cost £13 and its the bigest pile of shite i have ever seen.

I bought one of those polyfoam models last year and got hooked so i bought a FP heli and liked that too !! Finally i whent for a ccpm model the Honeybee king 2 , Great little helicopter that is becoming very popular and it is more than capable of 3d flight. It cost around 100 pounds delivered but you need to get a new brushless moter and esc so count another 25 pounds . All in all its a great buy and the quallity is very good.
never did get round to buying one of those electric ones although I do fancy the HoneyBee. I am currently working on the fuselage for my I/C powered version which will be a Bell 230UT when it is finished. I am taking photos as I go along so will post a build sequence up soon....I have good reference material from other builds so am using that as a guide.

Heres a couple of pics of my honeybee king II (Still with stock motor as i am waiting for 3900kv brushless and 25amp esc to be delivered). It really is a sweet little heli and handles very well, Good hovering and keeps its cap pretty well with the standard gyro (i will be getting a headlock gyro though).
I look forward to seeing your build pics. i will be getting a nitro heli in the future but lets just say im getting my wings first hehe on something a little less expensive (but very much as good as bigger units) to repair after the inevitable encounters with the ground.

Matter of opinion I bought one of the foam type for 10 pounds and have had hours of fun with it. They are not serious models but fun toys.
