| Barry,
That sounds like a plan to me!!! Sorry.
Seriously it will be a superb resource and well worth putting together. Thanks for taking the initiative.
Now I need to see what I've got in the workshop. |

| Just a quick suggestion, I think a "plan database" is an awesome idea.
In this age of technology though, would it not be easir to get the plans scanned and available for download. I realise that some of the plans are huge. But most home inkjet printers these days print up to the edge of the paper. Then its just a matter of downloading the plan, opening it in your favouirite graphics suite (Adobe Illustrator and Corel draw both split any large format illustration down to a4 seperates that you join together after).
The original scans though, would have to be done at a print shop. I believe an a1 size scan onto your own storage media costs around £2.00. |

| *** In that case we could expand the range of plans,I have some that I would not like to part with but would gladly do a scan onto a media disc to help someone out,its not a bad idea,do people like Prontaprint do this sort of thing ? Quote: |

| Sounds like a great idea but has anyone considered copy write laws? |

| | Guest | they would be personal "copies" which are being lent. No money is changing hands so it would be like me lending you a book?
Obviously if they were downloadable pdf's i think that maybe a differnet matter entirely? | |

| Costs of copying Hello all, the cost of copying at the locally owned reprographics company is minimal. They usually charge £1.80 +v.a.t for a single copy of an A0 sized plan. They also offer an encapsulation process which I recommend if you are going to handle the plan a lot. Obviously the smaller sizes are cheaper and again multiple copies are also likewise reduced. Basically as they get most of their business from the oil companies they look favourably on the modest means of us mere modellers (always go in wearing torn jeans )
I'd be happy to contribute to the cause any of the boat plans which I have stashed, most are of the "free" variety and would be considered as for personal use and not for commercial gain Anyway a great idea and I look forward to any requests.
cheers

| I feel that this is a really good cause and maybe we can increse it to kit instructions and maybe decals so the club/forum (i think of it as our club) has this resource available to our members |
